Securing Internet Information Server

Internet Information Server (IIS) is the built-in Web server for Windows NT, and version 4 (the current version of the product at the time of writing) adds many new features that allow fine-grained control over the way it works. It's now easy to set up separate virtual sites, specifying a different IP address and URL for each one; set script and executable permissions by directory; force executable programs to run in a separate area of memory from the Web server; and tightly control user access to each part of each site that you host.

The IIS snap-in for the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) can be installed on a remote machine and used to administer IIS from there. See the Remote Administration topic (under Server Administration, Web and FTP Sites) in the Help files for more information.
