Real-time Data Sources

A real-time data source provides data that describes the current performance activity in the system. The term current activity is also used to describe this kind of data source. Note that this usage of the term "real time" is not the standard use. While the PDH interface generally provides the data in a real-time fashion, threads with a higher priority of execution can postpone delivery of the data.

Currently, there are two real-time data sources: the registry interface and WMI providers. Refer to the WMI documentation for more information on WMI providers.
