on the Internet

Neuron Data has released Elements Advisor 2.0, which provides a rules-driven solution allowing businesses to automate business rules via the Internet, intranet, or extranet. programming. The program contains features such as an Open Object Model that can be integrated with packaged applications, custom applications, third-party development tools, and third-party middleware. Elements Advisor 2.0 contains Advisor Builder, which allows users to model and change business rules on the fly in a graphical manner. It also allows developers to compile, debug, and model business objects and processes in one development environment. Advisor Engine, a Java business rules engine, allows developers to manage and distribute their business rules on a server or on the client. The Advisor Engine supports distributed application architectures and multithreaded environments.

Distributed Debugging
ProtoSpeed, published by Progress Software, goes beyond traditional IDE debugging capabilities by letting you examine distributed applications from any location on the network. Developers can debug and monitor multiple Java objects, local and remote, running inside or outside the browser, or on the server. ProtoSpeed also provides protocol debugging and monitoring capabilities to set
Progress
breakpoints, modify, and record multiple protocol streams between clients and servers in real time. ProtoSpeed lets developers explore thread groups, threads, frames, and variables in deployed Java servlets, applets, and applications with or without source code. Developers can also view and modify protocol communications and prevent problems prior to deployment. ProtoSpeed can set breakpoints and change information on the fly, so developers can test potential bug fixes without modifying source code. ProtoSpeed supports HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, and IMAP4 protocols. ProtoSpeed also examines cookie, CGI, ISAPI, and NSAPI requests and replies, and views the contents of ActiveX® objects, Java class files, CAB files, JAR files, and others.
