Naming Conventions for Import Filters
An import filter needs to have a unique file name with regards to other import filters. In order to maintain that all filter files are uniquely named, please follow the following conventions when creating an import filter:
- File name should follow the 8.3 convention.
- File name should begin with the first 2 letters of the country of origin (e.g. UK for England, FR for France, US for United States, etc.). If one filter is being developed for distribution in many countries, use the country where the filter was primarily developed for the country prefix.
- File name should reflect the name of the product as much as possible.
- File name should contain version number of software that it is designed for.
For example, an import filter developed in the United States for a software package called Small Business Accounting, Version 4.x, should use a file name similar to USSBA4x.DLL.
