The Search Samples directory contains one sample, DirMon. DirMon demonstrates how you can use the IGatherNotify interface to manage a notification-based catalog, and how to monitor a directory for file changes and notify the gatherer (the process that collects documents to index) of these changes. Search then determines whether it should index these files as part of the defined catalog, which is then built and propagated periodically, so it can be searched.
