How to set trace definition defaults (SQL Server Profiler)

To set trace definition defaults

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. In the Trace Options dialog box, on the General tab, in the Default server list, click a server running Microsoft® SQL Server™. If the server is not listed, register the server.
3. Under Share type, click:
   • Private to disallow other users from running the trace.
   • Shared to allow other users to run the trace on your computer.
4. Under Events, click:
   • Commonly traced event classes to limit available server events to a commonly traced subset.
   • All event classes to make available to new traces all server events.
5. Under Data Columns, click:
   • Commonly captured data columns to limit available data columns to a commonly traced subset.
   • All data columns to make all data columns available to new traces.
