How to create a trace (SQL Server Profiler)

To create a trace

1. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Trace.
2. In the Trace Properties dialog box on the General tab, enter a name for the trace and select a trace type, a source for the trace to run against, and, optionally, a destination for the trace results. The trace type defaults to private.
3. To complete other trace properties, click Events, Data Columns, or Filter, and view the tabs.
4. The trace starts automatically.
