Package Objects (DTS)

Package components (for example, objects and collections) are implemented in the Microsoft DTSPackage Object Library (Dtspkg.dll).

Package objects are used to create a data transformation package, which defines the source columns, destination columns, and information about how the data is manipulated during the transformation. The Package object controls how the data is changed when it is moved and the data pump moves the data.

Each package is used to create and store a series of steps that defines the order of tasks to be performed and all the details necessary to perform the tasks. Tasks may perform such operations as running a separate executable program, running a Microsoft® ActiveX® script, or sending an e-mail message.
