How to shrink a database (Enterprise Manager)
To shrink a database
- Expand a server group; then expand a server.
- Expand Databases, right-click the database to shrink, point to All Tasks, and then click Shrink Database....
- To specify how much to shrink the database, select from these options:
- Shrink database by (%) and enter a percentage value to shrink the database by a specific percentage of the current database size.
- Remove as much free space as possible to shrink the database as much as possible.
- Optionally, select Periodically check to see if the database disk space can be shrunk to enable the database to be periodically shrunk automatically.
- Click Schedule... to create or change the frequency or time when the database is automatically shrunk.
Note You cannot shrink a database smaller than the size of the model database.
