Location Property (LinkedServer) (SQL-DMO)

The Location property specifies the OLE DB location part of initialization properties used by a provider to locate a data store.

Remarks

The Location property provides a value for the OLE DB initialization property DBPROP_INIT_LOCATION. Initialization properties are set for the provider when an attempt is made to connect to the OLE DB data source referenced by the LinkedServer object. Note SQL-DMO strings are always returned as OLE BSTR objects. A C/C++ application obtains a reference to the string. The application must release the reference by using SysFreeString.
