Microsoft® SQL Server™ data sources are ideally suited for access through ADO. Because SQL Server is fully OLE DB-compliant, you can use ADO to develop client applications, service providers, Web applications, and server business objects that access SQL Server data.
There are a number of considerations to take into account when programming ADO applications for SQL Server:
Other considerations include:
RDS is a Web-based technology that uses Microsoft’s Internet Information Services and special Microsoft ActiveX® controls to bind data from an ODBC SQL data source to data controls on a Web page. ADO is completely integrated with RDS technology. For more information about RDS, see the Microsoft MSDN™ Library, Microsoft Visual Studio® version 6.0 edition.
