Creating Partitions

Note User-defined partitions are available only if you install Microsoft® SQL Server™ OLAP Services, Enterprise Edition.

You can specify the portion of a cube’s data allocated to a partition in three ways:

• Specify a data slice in the Partition wizard
• Use a different fact table for the partition
• Filter data in a fact table used by multiple partitions

Regardless of the method you use to specify the data for a partition, it is your responsibility to ensure that data is not duplicated among partitions.
