Merging Partitions Using the OLAP Manager

Caution Incorrect use of partitions can result in inaccurate cube data. For more information, see Partitions and its subtopics.

Before you merge two partitions, choose one as the source and the other as the target.

Source partition: You select this partition to display the Merge Partitions dialog box. It disappears from the OLAP Manager tree view after merging.
Target partition: You select this partition within the Merge Partitions dialog box. It remains in the OLAP Manager tree view after merging.

To merge two partitions, use the Merge Partitions dialog box.

To merge two partitions

In the OLAP Manager tree view, under a database, expand the Cubes folder, expand the cube containing the partitions, and then expand the Partitions folder.
Right-click the source partition, and then click Merge.
In the Merge Partitions dialog box, select the target partition, and then click Merge.
In the Process dialog box, wait for the merge to finish processing, or click Stop to halt and cancel processing.
