If you write-enable a cube, users in roles that are granted read/write permission to the cube can change displayed cube data while they browse it. However, the changes are saved in a separate table called a write-back table, not in the cube data or source data. Users who browse a write-enabled cube see the net effect of all changes in the write-back table for the cube.
You can browse or delete write-back data. You can also convert write-back data to a partition.
Note Converting to a partition is available only if you install Microsoft® SQL Server™ OLAP Services, Enterprise Edition.
For more information, see Write-Enabled Cubes.
