How to set a SQL Server alias (Enterprise Manager)

To set a SQL Server alias

1. Right-click SQL Server Agent; then click Properties.
2. In the SQL Server Agent Properties dialog box, click the Connection tab.
3. Under SQL Server Alias, in the Local host server list, click the alias to which SQL Server Agent should connect. Select an alias that refers to the local SQL Server or SQL Server Agent will not work correctly.
