How to edit a user-defined event error message (Enterprise Manager)

To edit a user-defined event error message

  1. Right-click the server, click All Tasks, and then click Manage SQL Server Messages.
  2. In the Manage SQL Server Messages dialog box, click the Search tab.
  3. On the Search tab, in the Error number box, enter the error number of the user-defined event error message, and then click Find.

If you do not know the error number, refine the search by entering message text in the Message text contains box or by clicking a severity level in the Severity list. Alternatively, select Only include user-defined messages to find all user-defined event error messages.

  4. On the Messages tab, click the message to edit, and then click Edit.

In the Edit SQL Server Message dialog box, you can edit severity level and message text.
