Manage Roles Dialog Box

Enables you to select database roles for a cube.

This dialog box appears when you right-click a cube and then click Manage Roles.

Options

Database roles

Displays the role names that are available for the selected cube. You can view existing database roles that have been defined in the Roles folder under the Library folder in the OLAP Manager tree view.

Cube access

When you select a name under Database roles, it appears in the Name column under Cube access, along with the permission properties assigned to that role.

• To add a role to a cube, click the role, and then click “>“ (Add).
• To remove an assigned role from a cube, click the role, and then click “<“ (Remove).
• To add all displayed roles to a cube, click “>>“ (Add All).
• To remove all assigned roles from a cube, click “<<“ (Remove All).

New Role

Click this button to define a new database role.

Grant read/write permission

Select this option to allow users in the role to update browsed cube data. Updates will be recorded in the cube’s write-back table.

Read/write permissions are effective only if the cube is write-enabled in the Write Enable dialog box. Otherwise, read/write permissions function as read permissions.

OK

Saves changes you have made and returns you to the OLAP Manager tree view.

Cancel

Returns you to the OLAP Manager tree view without making changes.
