Repository Viewing Tools
Data Transformation Services provides a Microsoft® Repository browser and set of viewing tools in SQL Server Enterprise Manager (available through the console tree, under Data Transformation Services, in the Metadata node). These tools allow you to:
- Generate a hierarchical display of the metadata for any databases scanned to Repository, and jump to information on the packages that reference the metadata. If you regularly scan changes to catalog metadata, this display provides useful historical information on changes to the metadata. You can display the properties of a package version associated with any item of metadata, and a version history of those packages.
- Look up the specific version and date of a package that populated a row of data. If you turned on data lineage for a package, the DTS Repository lineage lookup lets you enter the lineage tracking number from a row of data created by a package, and determine the package that created the row. You can use either the short or long version identification number to look up the package.
- Browse through package versions saved to the Repository, and update packages. You can display a version history of each package, view the properties of a selected package version, and open and update a package version.
