Driver Support for Heterogeneous Data Sources

Microsoft® SQL Server™ provides ODBC drivers and OLE DB providers for performing distributed operations against heterogeneous data sources. SQL Server components that use these drivers and providers include:

The following table summarizes, for each of the major data sources, the driver or provider that has been tested and supplied by Microsoft. Microsoft Technical Support will help you resolve problems you encounter when using these drivers and providers to perform distributed operations. If you are using another driver or provider, contact the vendor of that ODBC driver or OLE DB provider for support.

For the latest information about driver or provider versions, see Readme.txt in the \Mssql7\Install directory.

For more information about replication to heterogeneous data sources, see Implementing Snapshot or Transactional Replication to Heterogeneous Data Sources.

DTS and Informix

The Informix ODBC driver is not supported for use with Data Transformation Services.

The Intersolv Informix OLE DB provider is supported for DTS imports from Informix, but not DTS exports to Informix. This driver also cannot be used to import metadata.

The Intersolv Informix ODBC driver is supported, but with the following restrictions:
