A package saved to Microsoft® SQL Server™ or Microsoft Repository can be opened from the SQL Server Enterprise Manager console tree. Versions of Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Repository packages are saved.
A package saved to a file is saved as COM-structured storage, allowing you to save multiple packages and multiple package versions to the same file. Each package saved must have a unique name; however, you save the packages to the same named file.
Saving a DTS package saves all DTS objects, properties, and relationships, and preserves the graphical layout of the objects on the DTS Designer workspace.
