Importing Data from an Access Database Example

As an example, the general steps required to import data from a Microsoft® Access database to Microsoft SQL Server™ using the DTS Import Wizard are:

  1. Choose Microsoft Access as the data source, and specify the file containing the Access database.
  2. Enter a User Name and Password to access the database, if necessary. You must also specify the name and location of the Access workgroup .mdw file in the Advanced Properties dialog box.
  3. Enter the table, or the results of an SQL query, to copy.
  4. Enter the destination table for the imported data.
  5. Specify any transformation requirements.
  6. Perform the import.
