You save your database diagram when you’re ready to update the database to match your diagram. However, if other users updated the database after you opened your diagram, their changes may affect your diagram and vice versa. In such cases, saving your diagram automatically:
Saving your diagram reconciles the database with your diagram by overwriting other users’ changes so that the database matches your diagram.
Note If your diagram contains tables and columns that were deleted from the database, only their definitions are re-created in the database when you save your diagram. This process does not restore any data that was stored in these objects prior to their deletion.
