Partition Wizard - Select Data Slice

Caution It is possible to create partitioned cubes that contain incorrect data. For more information, see Partitions and its subtopics in the Administrator’s Guide.

In this optional step of the wizard, you can specify a subset, or slice, of the data in your cube to use as the partition data. To bypass this step, click Next.

Under Dimensions is a two-column box. All the dimensions in the cube appear in the Name column. The Data slice column shows the member you select for each dimension. The data slice is defined by all the dimension members you select.

To select a data slice

  1. In the Name column, click a dimension by which to define the data slice.
  2. Under Members, expand members to reveal other members, and then click the member to define the data slice. The member appears in the Data slice column.
  3. To remove a dimension member from the data slice, click the dimension name, and then press the Delete key.
  4. Repeat the preceding steps until you select all the members that define the data slice, and then click Next.
