Creating a New Distribution Database

For transactional replication, the distribution database tracks transactions from multiple publications and Publishers. Log Reader Agents store changes to transactional publications in the distribution database until Subscribers can be updated.

For merge replication, Merge Agents store only synchronization history in the distribution database.

You can create a new distribution database on a server that has been configured  as a Distributor. Using the Configure Publishing and Distribution dialog box, you can specify and set:

• The distribution database name.
• The folder where the distribution database will be stored.
• The folder where the distribution database log file will be stored.
• The distribution database performance history properties.
• The distribution database security mode.

To create a new distribution database
