Publishing Data and Stored Procedures

Data is published by creating a publication, selecting the tables or stored procedures to be included in the publication, and making the publication available to Subscribers. A table included in a publication is called an article. An article can be the entire table or a subset of columns or rows.


Important A table used in a snapshot or transactional publication can have a maximum of 255 columns and a maximum row size of 8,000 bytes. A table used in a merge publication can have a maximum of 246 columns and a maximum row size of 6,000 bytes.


You can also select the execution of a stored procedure to be published as an article in a transactional publication. You cannot publish a stored procedure as an article in a merge publication.
