Push subscriptions can simplify and centralize subscription administration. The act of publishing is combined with the act of subscribing, and one individual can perform both in the same administrative session. The need to administer each Subscriber separately is eliminated. Many Subscribers can be set up at one time for each publication. A significant feature of push subscriptions for snapshot and transactional publications is that the Distribution Agent runs at the Distributor.
Users who are members of the sysadmin or db_owner roles can set up a push subscription. However, for a member of the db_owner role to set up a push subscription, the Subscribers must be registered by a member of the sysadmin role.
Before you create a push subscription, you must:
If you want to push subscriptions to more than one server or a server group in one operation, use the same destination database name for each Subscriber.
When you push a subscription using the Push Subscription Wizard, you must first specify a publication on a Publisher from which to push subscriptions.
You can select multiple servers as Subscribers. You can also select multiple server groups as Subscribers. The effect of selecting a server group is that all of the servers become Subscribers.
