You can create one or more publications from each user database on a Publisher. Publications cannot span databases: each publication can contain articles or stored procedures from only one database.
Before a publication can be created, the database must be enabled for publication. If you are creating the publication and are a member of the sysadmin role, this happens automatically. If you do not have sysadmin permissions, the database must be enabled by a member of the sysadmin role. After a database has been enabled for publication, a database owner (db_owner) can create or modify the publication. If you have sysadmin permissions, you can enable a database for publication using the Configure Publishing and Distribution Wizard, or by using the Configure Publishing and Distribution dialog box if replication is already enabled.
