Exporting Database Tables

ADOCE enables you to export tables from an H/PC to a desktop computer. The Export from Mobile Device to Database dialog box gives you the option to choose which tables on the device to convert to an Access database.

    To export an ADOCE database

  1. Connect the device to the desktop computer and open the Mobile Devices window.
  2. Choose Export Database Tables on the Tools menu in the Mobile Devices window.

The Export from Mobile Device to Database dialog box appears, showing the ADOCE tables on the connected device.

  3. Choose the Browse button to select a Microsoft Access .mdb file.

You also can type the path and file name in the Location box. If the file does not exist, ADOCE creates it for you.

  4. Select the check boxes for the tables you want to export, and then clear the check boxes for the tables you do not want to export.

ADOCE puts all of the selected tables in the same .mdb file.

  5. Select the Overwrite existing tables and/or data box if you want to replace tables in the .mdb that have the same name as a selected ADOCE table.
  6. Choose OK to begin the conversion.

The following options are available in the Export from Mobile Device to Database dialog box:

To export to an ODBC data source

  1. Connect the device to the desktop computer and open the Mobile Devices window.
  2. Choose Export Database Tables on the Tools menu in the Mobile Devices window.

The Export from Mobile Device to Database dialog box appears.

  3. Choose the Browse button.

The Choose Your New Database’s Filename dialog box appears.

  4. Choose ODBC Database in the Save as Type drop-down box.
  5. Choose an ODBC data source.
  6. Follow the same procedure as for importing a Microsoft Access .mdb file, selecting the ADOCE tables to export and other options.

For each .mdb file exported, the converter generates a log file named Ce2db.txt in the partner directory for the H/PC, usually in C:\Program Files\Windows CE Services\Profiles\devicename.
