The current version of the toolkit supports new Windows CE-based platforms, including the Auto PC, the Palm-size PC, and a Handheld PC (H/PC) that runs Microsoft® Windows® CE, Handheld PC Professional Edition, version 3.0. It also includes the following new features:
Test container for Microsoft® Active X® controls.
Mechanism that automatically completes your statements in C++ source and header files.
Tool that automatically downloads the appropriate dynamic-link libraries when you build an ATL or MFC application.
Interface that contains the tools to configure applications for any Windows CE-based platform.
Platform-independent communication interface for Windows CE-based devices and tools.
The toolkit also includes the following three new wizards:
These new wizards enable you to create a dynamic-link library (DLL), a working Windows application, or a static library to which you can add your own code.
In addition to new features, the toolkit includes improvements to existing features. The following items have been improved:
The ATL Object Wizard now supports a wider ranger of objects and controls, including composite controls.
The MFC AppWizard now supports printing.
ClassView and WizardBar now include several new commands: Delete, Go To Dialog Editor, and New Form. WizardBar now tracks empty classes.
The Component gallery now includes all the current Windows CE controls that are available on the web.
The current version of the toolkit supports approximately seventy more C run-time functions than the previous version.
Pointers to functions and vtable entries are now displayed in symbolic form whenever possible. In version 5.0, these items were displayed only as hex addresses.
The remote tools include the following new features:
The tools use the Windows CE Platform Manager to communicate with remote devices.
The tools support versions 2.10 and 2.11 of the Windows CE operating system.
The Remote Spy++ tool has new buttons that enable you to select a window on a remote device and to display the properties of the selected window.
