Cannot Connect to Network Server Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to identify a problem that occurred while attempting to connect with the network server for deployment.

Options

One of the following errors may be displayed in the dialog box.

For More Information   For step-by-step information on installing the Web Publishing API, see Configuring an IIS Server to Be a Deployment Target.

Cannot Ping Server

The Microsoft development environment is unable to verify contact with the requested network server. Either the target does not exist (or the URL was mistyped), or it is currently unreachable. Even if the server is unreachable, you can save the target information for use later. If you choose cancel, and you are creating a new target, you will be prompted to edit the target URL. If you choose cancel and you are modifying an existing target (using the Deployment Target Settings dialog box), the target information will revert to the previous version.

Try checking the spelling of the target machine, the status of the target machine, or try to connect to the target machine later, when the machine may be back online.

Web Publishing API Not Installed

The development environment cannot contact the requested network server because the Microsoft Web Publishing API is not installed on this machine.

Web Publishing API Version Outdated

The development environment cannot contact the requested network server because the network server's version of the Microsoft Web Publishing API is outdated.

Web Publishing API Copy Is Corrupted

The development environment cannot contact the requested network server because a component used by the Microsoft Web Publishing API (Piparse.dll) appears to be corrupted on the network server. Try reinstalling the Web Publishing API.

Installation of Web Publishing API Is Incomplete

The development environment cannot contact the requested network server because a component used by the Microsoft Web Publishing API (Piparse.dll) appears to be missing from the network server. Try reinstalling the Web Publishing API.

This Network Server Supports Component Installation

Enables the deployment of COM components and Java classes that run on the Web server. When the Web server is unreachable, the deployment target defaults to supporting only the deployment of client-side components. By selecting this option, you can override that default and specify that the Web server supports the deployment of server-side components.

To deploy server-side components from this service node, the target Web server must be configured with Microsoft Posting Acceptor 2.0 (or later versions). Without the proper configuration of the Web server, selecting this check box and deploying the deployment configuration will result in an error.
