If the routing table configuration is correct, the problem might be with a router or link at any point along the route. You can trace the path to the destination computer using Tracert and PathPing to pinpoint the problem. For more information about using the Tracert tool to examine routing paths, see "Examine Paths with Tracert" later in this chapter.
Use Tracert when you have no connectivity to a site under investigation, since it tells you where connectivity stops. PathPing is more useful when you have connectivity to a site but are experiencing some packet loss or high delay. In these cases, PathPing tells you exactly where packet loss is occurring.
