The next area to examine are the persistent entries in your routing tables. You can view these using the Route utility. Persistent entries are added using the route add -p command. Use Arp to confirm that the IP address-to-hardware address mappings are correct. If you find an error, change the incorrect entry using the route change command. If you want to make the change permanent, use route add -p. For more information about the Route tool, see "Examine the Routing Table with Route" later in this chapter.
If the local routing table is correct, the problem might be at some point between the host computer and the destination computer. Use Tracert to search for the source of the problem at the router level.
