Automating Server Installation and Upgrade

New Servers
Computers without a pre-Windows 2000 operating system installed require a clean installation of Windows 2000 Server.
To prepare for installation, obtain a client computer built by an OEM/Solution Provider.
To install Windows 2000 Server on a computer that does not have any pre-Windows 2000 operating system installed
- Perform a manual installation (no answer file). Answer all prompts.
– Or –
- Perform an automated or semiautomated installation. Use one of the following methods:
- CD Boot Setup.
- Syspart method. This is useful when installing new hard disks in the computers.
- Sysprep method. Use when installing to identical computers (HALs and mass storage device controllers must be identical).
- Boot disk and run Setup with an answer file.
