Using CryptoAPI

Applications can use the Microsoft CryptoAPI for the following tasks:

• Connecting to a CSP
• Generating cryptographic keys
• Exchanging cryptographic keys
• Encrypting and decrypting data
• Creating digital signatures

All data encryption using CryptoAPI is performed with a symmetric algorithm, regardless of the installed CSP.
