There are two functions that do not fit any of the above categories: Control and ExtDeviceMode. Both of these functions are supported primarily by printer drivers. The Control function processes device-specific extensions which are called escapes at the application level. The ExtDeviceMode function displays a driver-supplied dialog box which allows the user to configure the device.
