About Windows Media Encoder

Windows Media Encoder encodes audio signals, video signals, and/or script commands into an ASF stream. This stream can be saved to a file and broadcast by using Windows Media server components in Microsoft® Windows NT® Server version 4.0 with Service Pack 4.

Windows Media Encoder can be used by an administrator without any programming by using the Windows Media Encoder administration application (NSRex.exe). However, to automate encoding or run multiple instances of Windows Media Encoder, use the Automation programming interface.

For more information about using Windows Media Encoder as an application, see the Microsoft® Windows Media™ Tools documentation.
