Getting Started
This section introduces the basics of the Microsoft® Windows Media™ Player control, which enables you to easily enrich static content with dynamic, interactive functionality. The Windows Media Player control is a Microsoft® ActiveX® control. You can insert it into Microsoft® Visual Basic® applications or embed it in Web pages, controlled through Microsoft® Visual Basic® Scripting Edition (VBScript) or Microsoft® JScript®.
To use all of the script commands covered in this documentation, you need a recent release of the Microsoft Windows Media Player. You can download it from the Windows Media Player download site. It is also included with the standard installation of Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5, as well as Microsoft® Windows® 98 OEM Service Release (OSR) and Microsoft® Windows® 2000.
For more information about developing applications using ActiveX controls, see the Microsoft Component Object Model Web pages (http://www.microsoft.com/com).
For information about scripting ActiveX controls, see the Microsoft Scripting Web pages (http://msdn.microsoft.com/scripting).
