Using the File Transfer Control

The file transfer component of Windows Media Services uses an ActiveX control to receive files through multicast routing.

ActiveX controls are convenient and efficient for creating either Microsoft® Windows®- or Web-based applications. You can use these controls in any applications written in Microsoft® Visual Basic®, Microsoft Visual C++®, Microsoft Visual J++™, or a combination of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Microsoft® Visual Basic® Scripting Edition (VBScript) or Microsoft® JScript®.

This document focuses on developing applications by using Visual Basic and VBScript. Many of the concepts discussed in the SDK assume the reader has some knowledge of the Microsoft Visual development environment, or expertise in using HTML and VBScript. For more information about developing applications using ActiveX controls, see the Component Object Model page at the Microsoft Web site.

For more information about ActiveX scripting languages, see the Scripting languages page at the Microsoft Web site.
