Setting Up Exchange Mailboxes

You install the CML application on a Web server that is a member of a Windows NT® domain. If this domain has a trust relationship with an organization's Windows NT user accounts domain and if that organization uses Microsoft® Exchange Server, the CML application has access to Exchange Server and the following steps are unnecessary.

Otherwise, use these steps to set up mailboxes after installing Exchange Server on the CML application's server. A mailbox is necessary for each person who will test or use the CML application.

To set up Exchange Server mailboxes

  1. Run the Microsoft Exchange Administrator program by clicking Start and clicking Programs. Then, point to Microsoft Exchange and click Microsoft Exchange Administrator.
  2. Type the name of your Microsoft Exchange Server computer in the Connect to server dialog box (or click Browse and locate your server), to connect to the Exchange Server computer. (You may want to select the Set as default check box.) Click OK.
  3. Open the Exchange Server site folder and click the Recipients folder.
  4. On the File menu click New Mailbox.
  5. Type user information in the First, Last, Alias, Title, Department, Office, and Phone fields. These fields are stored in the borrower table in the FmLib database. You can enter more information about the user if you wish.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 to set up a mailbox for each additional user.
  8. Close the Microsoft Exchange Administrator program.

Important  In step 5, for Alias, use the person's Windows NT user name.

Note  Before rolling out the CML application for general use, make sure you specify the appropriate Microsoft Exchange Server organization, site, and server. Do this by using the Application Settings page. Although these settings are saved in the FmLib database, you should change these settings only by using this page; never edit the FmLib database directly.
