- thin client
- A client on which little or no processing takes place. Data is sent to the server for processing.
- three-tier architecture
- See n-tier application.
- transaction
- A unit of work that succeeds or fails as a whole. See ACID properties.
- transaction manager
- A system service responsible for coordinating the outcome of transactions in order to achieve atomicity. The transaction manager ensures that the resource managers reach a consistent decision on whether the transaction should commit or abort.
- Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
- The protocol that networks use to communicate with each other on the Internet.
- trigger
- A stored procedure that executes when data in a specified table is modified. Triggers are often created to enforce referential integrity or consistency among logically related data in different tables.
- trust relationship
- A trust relationship is a mechanism that allows users with accounts on one Windows NT domain to access resources on another Windows NT domain.
- two-phase commit protocol
- A protocol to ensure that transactions involving more than one server are completed on all the servers, or on none at all. Two-phase commit is coordinated by the transaction manager and supported by resource managers.
