IHTMLAnchorElement::get_target Method


Retrieves the target window or frame.

Syntax

HRESULT get_target(
    BSTR *p
);

Parameters

p
Address of a string (BSTR) variable that contains the target window or frame. For details, see the target property.

Return Value

Returns S_OK if successful, or an error code otherwise.

Remarks

The default value for the target depends upon the URL and site. If the user does not leave the site, the default is _self, but if the user exits to a new site, the default is _top.

IHTMLAnchorElement::put_target Method


Sets the window or frame to the target.

Syntax

HRESULT put_target(
    BSTR v
);

Parameters

v
String (BSTR) that specifies the target window or frame to set. For details, see the target property.

Return Value

Returns S_OK if successful, or an error code otherwise.

Remarks

If there is no frame or window that matches the specified target, a new window is opened for the link.

The default value for the target depends upon the URL and site. If the user does not leave the site, the default is _self, but if the user exits to a new site, the default is _top.
