IHTMLMetaElement::get_name Method

Retrieves the name of the META element.

Syntax

HRESULT get_name(
    BSTR *p
);

Parameters

p
Address of a string (BSTR) variable that receives the name.

Return Value

Returns S_OK if successful, or an error code otherwise.

Remarks

The name is used to bind the value of the control when submitting a form. The NAME property is not the value that is displayed for the button, reset, and submit objects. Submitting the form submits the internally stored value, not the one displayed.

Microsoft® JScript® (compatible with ECMA 262 language specification) allows the name to be changed at run time. This does not change the name in the programming model or in the collection of elements, but does change the name used for submitting elements.

Windows CE

Windows CE Use version 2.12 and later
Minimum availability Internet Explorer 4.0
