Prevent or allow changing all toolbars or menu bars in an Access database or Access project
You can control whether users are able to change any built-in or custom toolbars and menu bars.
- On the Tools menu, click Startup.
- Clear or select the Allow Toolbar/Menu Changes check box.
Notes
- Changes to these settings in the Startup dialog box won't take effect until the next time the Microsoft Access database or Microsoft Access project is opened.
- This option does not affect toolbars for PivotTable lists or spreadsheets on a data access page.
- If you clear this option, you can still move, size, and dock the toolbar or menu bar unless you previously specified otherwise in the Customize dialog box for a specific toolbar or menu bar.
- When this option is cleared, the Customize dialog box is no longer available. Users won't be able to customize any toolbars or menus even if the Allow Customizing box for a specific toolbar or menu bar was previously checked in the Customize dialog box.
- To prevent users from using the built-in toolbars, clear the Allow Built-In Toolbars check box.
- To disable the shortcut menu on toolbars and menu bars only, leave the Allow Default Shortcut Menus check box selected, but clear the Allow Toolbar/Menu Changes check box. This prevents users from customizing toolbars and menu bars.
