Display text only or an icon and text on a menu command
- On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize.
- Show the menu bar, shortcut menu, or toolbar with the menu command you want to change.
- With the Customize dialog box open, click the menu on the menu bar or toolbar, or click the shortcut menu that has the command you want to change.
- Right-click the command on the menu, and then click the option you want on the shortcut menu.
Notes
- Some commands do not have an icon associated with them and can only be displayed on a menu as text.
- On a menu, a command can't be displayed as an icon only. However, if the command has the Default Style format, when you copy or move the menu command to a toolbar or menu bar, the command automatically appears as an icon on the toolbar or menu bar (which is the default for both types of bars).
- If you change how a command appears on a built-in menu (for example, the Edit menu), it will be changed in all views that have that menu with that command.
