Display text only or an icon and text on a menu command

1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize.
   
   
2. Show the menu bar, shortcut menu, or toolbar with the menu command you want to change.
   
   
3. With the Customize dialog box open, click the menu on the menu bar or toolbar, or click the shortcut menu that has the command you want to change.
   
   
4. Right-click the command on the menu, and then click the option you want on the shortcut menu.

Notes

• Some commands do not have an icon associated with them and can only be displayed on a menu as text.
  
  
• On a menu, a command can't be displayed as an icon only. However, if the command has the Default Style format, when you copy or move the menu command to a toolbar or menu bar, the command automatically appears as an icon on the toolbar or menu bar (which is the default for both types of bars).
  
  
• If you change how a command appears on a built-in menu (for example, the Edit menu), it will be changed in all views that have that menu with that command.
