The Corporate Media Library (CML) application implementation uses features of an Internet implementation and takes advantage of opportunities an intranet solution offers. With an intranet it is possible to specify which browser to use. For example, the CML application developers want to use features available in Microsoft® Internet Explorer 4.0, such as Remote Data Service (RDS) and dynamic HTML (DHTML), that are not supported by other browsers or by earlier versions of Internet Explorer.
Key requirements of the CML application's intranet design are:
The browser on the client computer enables the user to interact with the user-services tier. The business-services tier and the data-services tier reside on the Web server or other servers. The CML data-services tier is the CML SQL Server™ database.
