- business logic
- The behavior that business objects encapsulate. Business logic can include database queries, user validation, transactions, and other changes to data, such as updates to customer accounts. Business logic and business rule are synonyms.
- business object
- A representation of the nature and behavior of a real-world thing or concept in terms that are meaningful to the business. For example, in an application, a customer, order, product, or invoice can be represented as a business object encapsulated for manipulation by users.

- business services
- Application functionality located in the middle, or business-services, tier of a Windows DNA application. Business services include Web services for hosting ASP pages, messaging services, data access, and component services such as transactions.
