Development Tools and Languages

Because much of the combined CML/LitCrit application is based on the original Corporate Media Library (CML) application of this guide's Scenario 1, the choices for tools and languages described in Scenario 1's Development Tools and Languages apply here as well.

To sum up, however, the tools used for the CML application are listed in the following table.

CML application element Development tool
CML COM components Microsoft Visual Basic version 6.0
CML structural design Microsoft Visual Modeler version 2.0
CML Web pages Microsoft Visual InterDev version 6.0
CML (FmLib) database Microsoft SQL Server™ version 7.0 is described in SQL Server and the CML and CML Data-Services Tier.

The rest of the CML/LitCrit application was developed using tools provided by Microsoft® Outlook® and Microsoft Exchange Server. These tools are summarized in the following table.

Application element Development tool
LitCrit Outlook form Microsoft Outlook
LitCrit workflow functionality Microsoft Exchange Server Routing, Microsoft Exchange Event Service
New Web pages Outlook Web Access, Outlook HTML Form Converter

Parts of the original CML application were changed to accommodate the new LitCrit functionality. These parts were updated using the same tools with which they were originally developed.
