Converting WAV Files to ASF Using Sound Forge

March 13, 1998

After you have finessed your audio and are ready to convert it to ASF, follow these steps:

  1. Select File, Save As, and then under Save As Type, select Active Streaming Format (ASF). Give the file a name.
  2. Select the audio codec you want to use. For our audio-only clips to be played over a 28.8-Kbps connection, we used the MPEG Layer-3 codec at 20 Kbps, 11,025 hZ.
  3. Press the Save button.
  4. In the ASF Save Options dialog box, accept the defaults by clicking the OK button.
  5. The ASF will be created, and you will be given the option to test the ASF in the Windows Media Player.

If you get an error when creating the ASF file, it could be because you need to resample your audio before the codec will work.
