Specify criteria or a sort order when using the asterisk in the design grid

1. Open a query in Design view.
   
   
2. Drag the asterisk (*) from the field list to the Field row in the design grid.
   
   
3. Add the fields you want to sort or set criteria for by dragging them from the field list to the Field row.
   
   
4. Select a sort order in the Sort cell for the fields you want to sort.

5. Enter criteria in the Criteria row for the appropriate fields.

6. Clear the Show check box for all fields except the asterisk; otherwise those fields will appear twice in the query's results.
   
   
7. Click the View button on the toolbar to view the results.
