Use the Label Designer to create and modify labels. When the Label Designer window is active, Visual FoxPro displays the Report menu and the Report Controls toolbar.
The Label Designer is the same as the Report Designer, using the same menus and toolbars. The main difference is that the Label Designer automatically defines the page and its columns based on the size of label you select.
To quickly create a simple label layout, choose Quick Report on the Report menu. Quick Report prompts you for input on the fields and layout you want for your label.
For detailed information on using the Label Designer, see Chapter 7, Designing Reports and Labels, in the User's Guide and the section "Controlling Report and Label Output" in Chapter 12, Adding Queries and Reports, in the Programmer's Guide.
By default, the Label Designer displays five bands: Page Header, Column Header, Detail, Column Footer, and Page Footer.
You can add the following bands to your label.
Band | Printed | Typical Contents |
Group Header | Once per report | Preface to following data |
Group Footer | Once per report | Calculated values for group data |
Title | Once per report | Title Date or page number Company logo Box around the title |
Summary | Once per report | Grand totals Text such as Grand Totals |
The Label Designer has a vertical and horizontal ruler you use to more precisely position objects in the bands. Use the ruler in conjunction with the View menu's Show Position command to help you position objects.
To change the ruler scale
The ruler is set to the system default (inches). Change this to pixels as follows:
The ruler scale is set to pixels, and the position indicator in the status bar (if Show Position is selected on the View menu) also displays positions in pixels.
